Built to Snark...

LOVED Marg in Built to Kill part 2...That was an incredible performance...She's awesome...as usual...

Warrick coming to her aid was very touching...I hope they write more of them this season...

Sam Braun...Excellent meanie...Too bad they killed him off, but mebbe it'll give an interesting storyline as we find out whodunnit...LOVE mastermind baddies...

And I'm diggin' this mini crime scene criminal...I don't have that sort of patience, but I have incredible respect for the type of skill & attention to detail it takes to be obviously insane and yet create works of art...Um...Wish I could do that...You know...Without the murders and stuff...LOL

And...I actually enjoyed the G/S moments......Wait, wait...Lemme explain...

Did I just imagine the snark flying all over???...I was LOVING the canon couple being so snarky to each other...Oh, yeah...Its "lurve"...

Don't remember it?...Let me recap for you:

Sara snarks at Griss at the mini crime scene that the killer makes Griss' "obessessive behaviour" look like "nothing"...And she said it with the usual snarky pussface...Awww...Soooo...Ahem..."mature adult relationship" and all...

Then, Griss gets a good one in when Sara comments on not having heard "Izzy's" (DannyB's) music...And Griss tells her it was "before her time"...LOVED that...

And one more snark for good measure...

Sara replies she'll "download it" and rolls her eyes PLUS the patented snarky pussface...(Ahhh...True love pales in comparison to the snark...Mebbe Griss made her sleep in the wet spot...or bought her another veggie burger with a side of snark...)

Anyway, we here at AnybodyButSara.com adore good snarky moments so we ordered up a batch of awards with a pussface emblazoned expressly for the purpose of showing recognition for these gems...

The newly minted AnybodyButSara.com Snark Award goes to... ECKLIE!!!...AnybodyButSara.com Snark Award

When he questions Griss about a case...And Sara pipes up with "I agree with Grissom"...

Ecklie: "Of COURSE you do..."

Ha!...Attaboy, Conrad!...Gee, the awards came out nice...(But they remind me of someone...Hmmm...I'll think of it...Gimme a minute...)

Respect the snark, people...

CSI:LV...RIP...?

My personal life is in a bit of upheaval lately and my sinuses have had me sorta schlumping around & crashing for medication induced hours on the couch, but I have seen the CSI:LV Season 7 premiere...I had intended to recap Part 1 on the Friday after the episode aired, but since I haven't felt so well, I think I'll wait until Part 2 airs this Thursday...

In the meantime, thanx to a very creative non-GSR supporter, "Kiss, Kiss, Bye, Bye"...

Funny...yet sad...

Well, that was interesting...

I'm gonna need to watch it again to give any coherent recap...

Laterz,

ABS;)

Just a coupla more hours...

Nearly time for the Season 7 opener...

Need something to do to pass the time?...Here's a new article by MSN called "The Women of CSI"...

Favourite comment: "Sara is the most divisive character on CSI. The people who worship her send hate mail instantly if our weekly chart contains even the slightest hint of bias. But others loathe Sara. They call her boring, say she’s a downer, and complain that she’s not beautiful enough to be on the show."...

See?...It's not just ABSers...

Don't forget to take the lil poll below the article...Back in a lil bit...

ABS;)

A dubious shout out, but a shout out nonetheless...

It seems AnybodyButsara.com has crossed paths with the GSR "fanwank" radar of Miss Cam...I know, I know...But I still got a huge kick out of it...LOL ...
In case you don't know who Miss Cam is, she invented/wrote the wonderful series of "Official Fanfiction University of..." & "The Protectors of the Plot Continuum", starting with "The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth" and my personal favourite, "The Official Fanfiction University of CSI"...She's deliciously wicked & brilliant...Read her stuff immediately...*

Hmmm...Mebbe leaving a comment wasn't such a great idea, in retrospect...Ooops...(Nah...she was quite gracious)...

Ah, well...So much fanwank, so lil time...

Now see...I knew he'd redeem himself...

The online TVGuide interview is here ...

Here's a lil quote:

Question: Are you surprised that a show that is not known for its romantic plots is now getting such a huge reaction for one scene at the end of one episode?

Fox: Very surprised. It's a huge compliment to the show. There's this sense that the folks who have been watching loyally for so long are still really invested in what's happening to the characters. I know there are positive and negative responses, but it's nice to be causing a strong, emotional response.

Petersen: We held back on any of that kind of stuff for six years for a reason. If you were going to do something like this a couple of years ago, where would we be now? Probably divorced."

Question: We know Mr. Petersen will be away for a couple of weeks this season [performing in a play in Providence, Rhode Island]. Do you think Sara will be true to Grissom while he's away?

Petersen: I would like to think she would. It's only for a couple of weeks. We're still working on how that's going to unfold.

Fox: I don't know if they even have a monogamous relationship. I'm not sure we've defined that. It's possible Sara would be true to him, but I wouldn't say it's definite.

Question: Knowing that eventually the administration will find out about the relationship, what consequences do you think will be in store for them career-wise? And if they were told to choose between their relationship and their jobs, what do you think they would do?

Petersen: I don't know that Grissom has ever been in love, or that he's in love now, so I wouldn't know how to answer that question.

Fox: Sara, by virtue of being a realist, is also very much a romantic. So I think if she really was in love with someone, and it came down to a choice between work and love, I think she'd go in the direction of love.

Question: If Grissom is supposed to be having a long-term affair with Sara, why was Lady Heather brought back for Season 6?

Petersen: People come in and out of your lives whether they know you're having an affair or not. The last time she was on the show, she was in trouble. Besides, she doesn't like Grissom anymore, anyway. I don't think Grissom understood what the Lady Heather thing was [about].

Question: Jorja, do you think Sara will ever meet Lady Heather? If so, how would Sara react to her and Grissom's past?

Fox: It would be a fun scene to get to do. Sara sat out a lot of the Lady Heather stuff.

Petersen: We had this scene where we talked about the guy with the corset damage. Sara asks Grissom where he got his information and he just said, "I have my sources." To those who caught that, they'll think he must have learned what he knew from Lady Heather. He doesn't talk to Sara about Lady Heather or his infatuation any more than any guy would discuss his infatuation with another woman while talking to his woman.

Fox: Grissom is good at keeping secrets.

Why yes...He certainly is...Hehehe...

CSI Season 7 starts tonight!...

This post was inspired by Lethes...We were comparing what we found sexy...(OK, I fessed up to David Caruso's voice being quite a bit of growly yummyness...(Although he still irks the heck out of me since his exodus from NYPD Blue...And David?...Taking off & putting on shades is NOT acting...Gah!)...

But I digress...

Anyway, since Grissombowleggedsexiness will grace TV screens all over tonight, here's my list of Top 10 in order of "turn on" value...

1. Voice (I can barely get through a Sean Connery or a Vin Diesel movie...and there's a certain note that both Pavarotti & Prince hit that slays me...)

2. Hands & Forearms (Um...When I was a kid I watched a LOT of Jerry Lewis movies...HUGE crush...Something about his knuckles, forearms & the nape of his neck...I dunno...WP's lil finger tics slay me, too...)

3. Smell (Erm...Toss out the cologne...Buy Ivory soap...A light sweat & we're good to go...That stuff is deadly yummy...)

4. Intellect (Besides the obvious benefits, it's also that "Librarian Syndrome" thing...Glasses extra points..."If I could just get his glasses off & molesticate him...Hmmm"...)

5. Eyes (Preferably brown...Blue will do in an emergency situation...Crinkles at the corners are extra points...)

6. Bowlegs (Especially walking or running...You really don't wanna know...)

7. Overbite & Dimples (Peter Berg, Denzel Washington...Dead sexy...Extra points for lip biting or tongue tics when nervous...)

8. Neck (I can't explain it, but it goes back to Jerry Lewis...It's sick...I know...)

9. Dark thick unruly curly hair (Grey at temples gets extra points...Actually, the greyer it gets, extra points...)

10. This last one I call "ness"...I can't define it really...There is a certain way certain men (and women) carry themselves through the Universe...A certain intensity?...Purpose?...Quirkiness?...

I used to think it came with age and I suppose some of it does, but not always...Not all of it...It's that undefined variable that makes certain men (and women) extremely attractive...And it's not looks...

Grissom has "Grissom-ness", Barbara Streisand has "Streisand-ness", but some folks don't have "ness"......Lady Heather has "ness", Sara doesn't...

There you have it...My eccentricities of attraction...(I'm going to need a cool washcloth & a lie down in a minute...)

ABS;)

P.S. Lethes, thanx for the idea!

CSI Season 7 starts tomorrow night!...

William Petersen (CSI:LV's "Grissom" for those of you living on another planet) gave an extended interview to the Chicago Tribune and although he was a bit coy, I can't help but feel as if he's trying to figure out himself if he'll be back for an 8th season...Even if it might be in a limited role...

It appears that the theatre is truly his first love and that hasn't changed with his success in movies and television...He really wants to get back to his roots as a theatre actor...

I like how he seems to be trying to weigh his desire to go back to theatre with what he sees as his responsibility to the cast & crew who depend on CSI for thier income...This is no selfish guy...He's truly torn...

Despite my dislike of GSR and his character's part in it, I can't help but respect how he seems to care for the rest of the cast & crew...Whatever he decides, I'm sure it'll be what he sincerely feels is the right thing to do...I mean, at the end of the day, it is only a job...

Now...On to the bowleggedsexiness tomorrow night!...

CSI Season 7 starts 3 nights from tonight!...

I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably not going to get an 8th season out of CSI:LV...Its long been speculated that, due to a desire to move back to his hometown of Chicago & persue his private life with lovely wife, Gina, William Petersen might not re-sign for Season 8...

I doubt the show can continue without "Grissom"...I mean, let's be honest...Yes, Marg & Gary & George & Eric & Paul are wonderful, but I doubt viewers will watch past Grissom's inevitable departure...

Part of me hopes he simply moves away to retire & teach, but in my heart I know that won't be enough...Part of me hopes they allow Grissom to pass away peacefully in the Rain Forest so GSR dies with him...I don't see any other solution really...

That makes me sad...

But you never know, sooo...

CSI Season 7 starts 4 nights from tonight!...

I'm sooo excited!!!...Just a few more days!!!...

BTW, for those interested in the new CSI cover interview in TV Guide with William Petersen...Actress Jorja Fox mentions "not being certain as to whether or not they're monogamous"...

Hmmm...That's a pretty interesting remark considering all the fuss made over GSR...Of course the remark was "spun" by diehard GSRs as being a "joke"...But the fact remains, darling "Sara" said it...They can either ignore it, spin it, or call her a liar...But its in the new TV Guide...

Denial, thy name is GSR...

And as soon as TV Guide updates the website, more questions will be
HERE...Great WP pics, too...And he gives backstory on the crazy Hawaiian shirt & my favourite, the straw hat...

That's all for now...Gotta run out to buy marshmallows for Thursday!...

So much pressure building up!...

CSI Season 7 starts 6 nights from tonight!...

Caught the Season 6 finale repeat last night with a clueless unsuspecting casual CSI watcher friend...Needless to say he was like, "Whoa! Where did that come from???"...

An entire summer hasn't lessened the sting...I don't care...I don't want to hear it...I'm not happy about it...But, oh well...No one can take my imagination from me...So if I have to live in the alternate universe of ABSer fan fiction to get through this crisis, so be it...

Speaking of which, I've started compiling a list of all the great ABSer parodies and other ship fics...There are some excellent writers out there in the CSI fandom...

If you want to suggest a fic, just lemme know...

In the meantime, I'll be counting down to September 21st...Yay!...

Thursday, September 14, 2006

CSI Season 7 starts one week from tonight!...

I know, I know...I'm waiting with MANY reservations after that damned Season 6 finale nonsense, but...I can't help it...I'll be watching...

OK, I'll have one eye closed so I won't see Sara, but I will be watching...

What else is there to watch anyway?...I know nothing about Grey's Anatomy and doubt I'll bother seeing it until it goes into syndication at some point...And even with a gazillion cable channels, there's really never anything else on worth watching...

Sooo...

I've bought the microwave popcorn (Kettle, of course), a bottle of Coke classic, industrial sized Hershey's chocolate bar...I've already plumped up the pillows on the couch for a test run...And Thursday night I'll be glued to my TV...Waiting for a glimpse of sexybowleggedGrissomness......What else would I be doing on a Thursday night, but spending it with my sexy/geeky TV boyfriend & his pals?...

Sad and pathetic, I know...But he's sooo cuuute...

My Season 7 (highly unlikely) Wishlist...

Well, the start of Season 7 is just around the corner...Its been a long boring CSI only in reruns Summer...I've decided to post a wishlist of what I'd like to see this season (But probably won't get to see cuz TPTB are clearly not on the same page as I am)...Here it is...

Enjoy!

ABS;)

My Season 7 (highly unlikely) Wishlist...

1. Grissom wakes up and realizes he's been abducted by aliens...Then Grissom realizes Sara is an alien...
2. Grissom wakes up in the shower at SouthFork...(Seeing a pattern yet?)
3. More Lady Heather episodes...
4. Greg beats up K-Fed...
5. Hodges finally gets a date...
6. Warrick realizes Tina was a poor substitue for Catherine...
7. Brass finally gets a girlfriend...
8. Doc Robbins gets to sing...(OK, I cheated & saw the Season 7 promo...)
9. Nick doesn't wear his jeans quite so tight...And grows his hair out a lil bit...But no porn-stache...
10. Ecklie & Sofia run away together...

Well, that's my list...What's yours?

Fan fiction..."Wimpy Grissom"...

This post was inspired by a recent conversation with a fellow ABSer who noted the trend in fan fiction for writers to insist on writing "Wimpy Grissom"...

Now, let me preface by stating, I realize Grissom is emotionally "shuttered"...That's part of his charm...He's always struck me as a man who, while able to form deep emotional attachments, relies on his intellect instead of his heart...There are many theories amoung fans as to why he does this...My theory is that Grissom isn't so much afraid to be hurt, but that he merely has been hurt and chooses to avoid it...Much like the child who has touched a hot oven and thereafter avoids touching it...I don't see him as pathological...I see him as a man who is curious and constantly learns from indulging his curiosity...

I've never seen Griss as a wimp...But I find these (mostly GSR) fics where he's all simpering & whimpering & whining & crying & scared to touch a woman & pathologically insecure & stuttery...Sorta pathetic...

Having said that, where have these fiction writers gotten the idea that he's merely a one dimensionally emotionally stunted committment phobe?...Um...Huh?...This is Griss we're talking about...Flirty, kink fascinated, smoldering, sexy Alpha-male Griss...I don't get it...Are they even watching the same show as I am???...

And they can't seem to decide if he's sexually repressed to the point of virginity OR sexually adventurous to the point of secret indulgence in fantasy of every sort of deep dark forboding kink (only with Sara, though...Argh...As if...)...

I don't know whether to be appalled or just shake my head and sigh...

Did I mention that many of the GSR community lambasts Lady Heather as a "psuedo-prostitute" or "whip weilding skank", yet there are a proliferation of fictions in which the very first thing they have Grissom do to Sara (with varying results) is to tie her up and immediately begin some version of very intense
BDSM "play"?...Considering how many times Sara has mentioned at "kinky" crimes scenes that the victims/perps are "freaks", I have a very hard time imagining she'd be as willing a participant as the writers envision...

All, in all, many of the GSR fan fictions I've read suffer from trying to write Grissom as a comparable romantic match for what is essentially a glorified "
MarySue" character...Therein lies the problem I see inherent in such a pairing...

Grissom is a complex, multi-layered character...Sara tends to be written by each writer as they see themselves...

No wonder it never rang true for me...

FAQ

As I've worked on the AnybodyButSara website & spoken with other CSI fans similarly disappointed with the current plotline, I've been approached by many in the GSR (Grissom/Sara romance) community who resent my making the AnybodyButSara blog and AnybodyButSara.com...I've decided to address things they've said to me in the following

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)...

Are the AnybodyButSara blog or AnybodyButSara.com "anti-GSR"?

The AnybodyButSara blog and AnybodyButSara.com are decidedly NON-GSR & NON-Sara...The focus is on any CSI character except the character of Sara...

Isn't that unfair?

No...There are numerous places that focus on that character...We choose not to do so...

Why do you hate Jorja Fox?

I don't hate Jorja Fox...She is an actress whose job it is to play a fictional character on a TV show...

Why do you hate the character of Sara Sidle?

"Hate" is a very strong word to apply to a fictional character on a TV show...Let's just say that I dislike the character immensely...Why?...I feel that the way the character is written sends the message that if a woman sulkily waits around long enough for a man who has repeatedly sidestepped her advances & is ignoring her, "he'll come around"...I think that's a ridiculous message to send out...

What annoys you most about Sara?

I find it annoying that the writers increasingly made her drab, boring, judgemental, whiny and generally unpleasant...A collosal waste of Jorja Fox as an actress, in my opinion...

Why do you hate the GSR community?

I don't hate the GSR community...But I do find some things about the GSR community rather annoying...

What annoys you most about GSR?

A few things actually...One of which is the widely held GSR belief that the character of Grissom somehow mistreated Sara...She asked him out, he declined...Big deal...

She continued to persue him, he continued to decline...(Get a clue, Sara!...He's just not that into you!...Sheesh...)

And now, suddenly, after all the "cat & mouse" the writers have played with this plotline, the Season 6 final moments imply they're not only "together", but its "not so new"...WTF???...

I don't care about the age difference...He's not her father...Many couples have successful May/December relationships...

I don't care about him being her boss...Workplace romance isn't new...Many couples have successful workplace romances...

I care about continuity and the fact that I felt jerked around by the writers...

Many GSRs argue that "GSR was always on the horizon"...Yes, I get that...Unfortunately, it was executed very poorly...Whatever...I'm bitter...Deal with it...

And hearing "Its CANON!!!" squealed repeatedly doesn't make me feel any less bitter...

I think the thing I find most annoying about certain factions in the GSR community is that I've noticed an overwhelming intolerance & a need to bully...There are other "ships" for the CSI fandom, but some in the GSR community seem to find it necessary to seek out those, like myself, who don't share thier views and try to browbeat them into either shutting up or changing thier minds...I resent that...

Many also like to say, "ABSers or anti-GSRs, why can't they just accept that its canon and just shut up?...Its ONLY a TV show! Get a LIFE!!!"...

My reply is, "If its canon and that makes YOU happy, why can't GSRs just accept that not everyone feels that way and that everyone is entitled to thier own feelings & opinions and stop harrassing those who don't ship GSR?"...

I seriously doubt all GSRs would "just accept it and shut up" if a non-GSR ship was sailing...Oh, sure its not so bad when NO ship is sailing, but if a non-GSR ship had set sail GSRs would've had hissy fits, too...They can pretend to be more mature simply because "Its CANON!"...Whatever...

Are you willing to debate GSR?

I have been and continue to debate GSR on various forums and privately...However, I'm undecided on whether I will allow GSR debate to go on here at the AnybodyButSara blog or AnybodyButSara.com...It would be nice to carry out mature debate & discussion, but I'm not of the temperment to allow the GSR bullying I've seen go on at other forums...We'll see...If enough people want it, I might consider adding that, though...

Are GSRs welcome here?

Yes...If they can enjoy the blog & website as they are presented (with a non-Sara focus), they are welcome...

But the AnybodyButSara blog and AnybodyButSara.com are "NO bullying zones"...Period...No negotiation...

I have ZERO tolerance for snark directed at:

1. Grissom (I don't care if you think he has wronged Sara...)
2. William Petersen OR Jorja Fox (They are just actors doing thier jobs...)
3. Other "ships" or other readers/posters (Don't like non-GSR?...You are entitled to your own opinion, just keep it respectful and in the area where "ship" debate is allowed...Otherwise, I don't want to see it or hear it...Period...No negotiation...)

GSR posts found in inappropriate areas will be considered SPAM and will result in your posts being removed...Period...No exceptions...

Personal attacks on other readers/posters will result in your posts being removed and you being banned...Period...No exceptions...

None of these are negotiable...Its simple, really...Don't be an ass...Play nicely...Or you will be unapologetically ousted...

Personally, I find myself with the type of personality that finds it nearly impossible to be insulted...So if you want to engage me in debate, great...If things escalate into disrespect, you will be warned...Continue and it might get ugly, depends on my mood...Show your ass and it might be gleefully handed to you on a platter with all the trimmings...

If these constraints will keep you from enjoying the AnybodyButSara blog or AnybodySara.com, tough...There are plenty of GSR related blogs & websites for you to enjoy...Seek them out...I'm not interested in GSR related whining about fairness...

Enjoy!
