I miss Griss...and suspicious GSR focus in the media?...

Last night's rerun just made me wish the next few weeks would hurry past so Griss would return...I know I'm not the only one missing him, but it's nice to know that William Petersen's performance in Dublin Carole has been well recieved...Unfortunately, personal obligations beyond my control keep me from popping in the see the show myself...Drat... :(

I notice there have been a few mentions in the media specifically about GSR...Ordinarily I'd simply figure it's innocent, but after 6 seasons, I can't help but wonder if things are ramping up a bit in the publicity department to generate interest in GSR merely to highlight a big impending plot direction...

I mean, it's not as if this story has been all over the place like the one on Gray's Anatomy...Heck, I don't even watch that show, but I have at least heard the nickname "McDreamy" and jokes about the plot...

Up until now, that hasn't been the case with CSI or "GSR"...

I'd go as far as to say that outside of the CSI fandom, casual viewers barely realize what "GSR" even means...Unless they hear it and think it's the acronym for gunshot residue...

So I have to wonder why the media is suddenly so interested...Not in CSI, but specifically in GSR...

Hmmm...

Methinks the plot is thickening...

No matter...I plan on watching until the bitter end...

Seeya next time,

Is fandom out of sync with reality?...

Yes, we all have TV shows and movies that we love and support...

But when is too much...well...TOO MUCH?...

In the current political climate, with families recovering from losing loved ones from a tragic terrorist attack (9-11) and others from a horrific tsunami and still others who lost everything to a hurricaine (Katrina) and with children going to bed hungry all over the world and HIV running rampant and war in nearly every corner of the world, is it justifiable to spend thousands of dollars to try to ensure that a fictional character remains on a TV show?...

Let me put this out there...

If you can write several letters to a TV production studio to save a fictional character, have you written the President about the handling of a war that has our troops away from thier families?...Does that injustice fill you with the same outrage?...

Have you taken a stand on the hate crimes committed every day against people of colour or people who simply want to have the option to marry the one they love regardless of gender?...

Have you sent money to fund the creation of clean water distribution systems in countries where they don't get thier water by simply turning on a faucet while watching CSI?...

Do you think for one moment that these issues are less important?...

And more importantly, which action do you think the real person behind the fictional character would find more fitting a tribute in thier honour?... And which action do you think they'd see as an unfortunately selfish waste of resources?...

You readers decide,

LocoClueless...

It took me a bit to recap this episode due to other distractions in my personal life, but here we go...

I liked the poor guy stuck in the cement...Poor guy...Must be awful to live in the vortex of Murphy's Law...Accidental killings aside, this guy just couldn't get an even break...

Cath had me cracking up...As sad as the whole case was, it really was funny in a "giggling at the funeral" way...

OMG...Griss smiling???...What a surprising treat...Erm...What?...No "true love" sharing the moment?...Go figure...

Doc sure has been highstrung lately...I wonder if he's the one burning out instead of Griss...

Brass in shirtsleeves...Mwrar...He could barely contain himself with Cath giggling away...

What a great job by cutie kid actress Lexi Jourden as "Suzy"...Ya knew the "Hi, Max!" was coming as soon as he saw her in the hallway, but it was still cute and well done... Loved her interraction with Warrick, too...

Warrick and Nick worked pretty well with Sofia, but I'd like to see more of Warrick's story arc...What's going on with him and Yoko...Erm, I mean Tina?...

Izzy's PSA were hilariously insincere...Ha!

I don't buy Ernie Dell as the MCSK...I think we're all thinking someone else used him to take the fall...I hope this plot line doesn't fizzle out...

OK, OK...You knew I'd eventually get to this...

Um...I've mentioned this before in a few forums, but I keep getting told that my opinion is tainted because I don't like Sara...

Is anybody else seeing Sara being written as completely clueless in regards to Griss' feelings?...

At first I saw her as insensitive, but after this episode I just think she's being written as clueless...How unrealistic is it to have a CSI who solves crimes through deductive reasoning not pick up on her "soulmate" burning out?...

That would be reasonable if they WERE'NT in a "mature adult relationship", but it's being written that they ARE...So, what's the excuse for when they see each other OUTSIDE of work?...Why isn't Sara in tune to Griss' stress at all?...And please don't hand me a rasher of crap about "Oh, she's just being subtle at work"...Presumably, they spend time together after work...No?...

Cath noticed and Sara gave a ScoobyDoo "Huh?" look that spoke volumes...She is clueless...Sad...

Well, geegollygosh, but at least it's all "canon", huh?...Yay!

The question now is, will TPTB allow it to continue or will they toss it like yesterday's trash...Hmmm...

We'll see,
ABS;)

Running the bull...Ole`...

Why is it that people think they can control anothers' behaviour?...By being vigilant, by trying to curb anothers' natural impulses?...It's all an illusion, you surely must realize that...

People you've known forever will PM others who share thier opinions right under your collective noses, using the very technology you provide for only those you think share your opinion...It happens anyway...

People will "warn" others about how "only a select few" are allowed to "voice thier thoughts" because they've paid for the technology and "everyone else is afraid of them"...

People will privately EMail and commiserate with others that you struggle to keep segregated...

And because people will always seek each other out, no matter how you try to prevent it...Your only recourse is to realize that you really cannot legislate people finding each other...and the harder you attempt to keep people apart, the harder they will try to find each other...It's human nature...

That includes trying to keep the opposition from writing to the very same people you plan to write...Your post, not mine...

As a matter of fact, it would appear counterproductive to bait someone if you'd prefer they DIDN'T write, no?...Without your suggestion, mebbe they wouldn't have been thinking of it...But now that you've tossed the idea into the ring...It just might get considered...How clever of you to be so kind as to get folks thinking in that direction, who otherwise might not have bothered...But now?...Who knows how many you've inspired?...

Being obnoxious to the very people you hope won't oppose you is like waving a red flag in front of a Brahma bull...It's stupid and it annoys the bull...

Just a thought,
ABS;)

Are they gonna kill off Sara?...

Well, over the past coupla days, there has been quite a bit going on in the CSI fandom regarding a rumour of TPTB possibly killing off Sara...Letters are being written to try to prevent this even as I type...

I won't make fun of them...Although it is certainly tempting...But they want to try to save a character they like...Understandable...

Although, if I were on the CSI:LV staff, after the last spoiler brouhaha, and after it was made clear on certain CSI message boards that it wouldn't be prudent to post certain spoilers because of how much sh*t hit the fan, I would see getting a whole slew of pro-GSR letters as a huge heads-up that there has been yet another leak...

Frankly, I'd be furious to think that, yet again, someone has allowed sensitive info to find it's way out of the inner circle...Personally, I'd start sanctioning folks...And if the leaks continued, I'd start firing folks...

That may sound harsh, but CSI is a business...A business that makes it's money through advertising dollars...And advertisers spend money because they reach the audience they feel will spend money with them...If a smaller, but more vocal group starts making waves, advertisers will be put off...If advertisers get unsettled, they've been known to pull ads...It's a matter of keeping advertisers happy more than anything else...

So, writing a slew of letters to save a character you like may be a good idea in other circumstances...When it happens naturally...But an artificially arranged letter writing campaign on the heels of a breach of security, very well might make things worse...

But, as I've said before and will likely say many times in the future...TIME WILL TELL...

Oh, BTW, a reader commented regarding my "use of language" when pulling the card of the writer who chose to incorporate statutory rape between Griss (written as a 31 yr old) and Sara (written as 17 and unable to consent to sex legally wherever the fic is set, which is why Griss moves out until her 18th birthday as response to that revelation)...

I self-censure profanity...Call me oldfashioned, but it's a way of expressing myself AND showing respect to my readers...If this were a professional blog, instead of a personal blog, I wouldn't use even censured profanity...To any readers who might be offended (and there's only been you), I figure you already know that my self-censure here is a sign of respect for you...

If anyone else is offended who aren't the readers this blog considers it's audience...Oh, well...I'm not looking to please you anyway...Read or don't...

Mission Legendary...and an ugly gal...

I bring what I think is a unique perspective to this episode... See, I'm a kid of the '60s...When I was kid, there were only a few TV channels (2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and occassionally 13, but it was "educational") and TV ended the broadcast day to a black screen until the next morning started with a short church service, then the news...

Kids actually played outside in the fresh air...We rode bikes and played with frogs from the reservoir and got dirty and tired...No Cartoon Channel or Nickelodeon way back then, sorry...Saturday mornings were a coupla hours of cartoons...Sunday night was Wonderful World of Disney...And we didn't have VCRs and certainly not TIVO...If you missed a show, you missed it...Presumably forever...

But at night, after the kids had a bath and dinner, families watched TV and movies together...

Around our house, it was either sports, westerns or World War 2 (Dad and my brothers)...GunSmoke (Mom)...

Medical drama like Dr. Kildaire, Ben Casey, The Doctors, Marcus Welby, M. D., Medical Center...Cop/courtroom drama like Naked City, Mannix, Perry Mason, anything by Hitchcock and movies based on Agatha Christie (All of us)...

It was a great time for precursors to the shows like Chicago Hope, ER, House, 3 lbs, Law & Order, CSI, Murder, She Wrote, etc...I've never forgotten those TV shows and movies or the feeling of watching my parents enjoy them...

Except for westerns or World War 2, my father's hands down favourite was Mission Impossible...

He would've gotten a huge kick out of the fact that many years later I would find myself in a position that allowed me to end up at the recent MI:3 premiere and party...I wish my Dad had been alive for me to have taken him to that...He loved the show and I loved the intrigue and the "*cons" (and I had a huge crush on Peter Lupus), but mostly I loved the mask reveals...

CSI:LV let me relive that bit of nostalgia with this week's episode...

Roger Daltrey (from The Who and Tommy) plays Mickey Dunn who, after being shot and assumed dead, comes back 30 years later to exact revenge...It's cheesy, it's corny, but it's a fun ride anyway...

Sure, we already know who he is, even in prosthetic makeup...Sure, we see the plot points way before they actually show up...But it's still fun...And even Mission Impossible's Barabara Bain makes an appearance briefly as Derek's mother...Sweet...

Cath is great, as usual...But she's obviously in denial if she meant what she said about her father, Sam Braun, not being "a mob guy"...Erm...Right, Cath...Get serious...

For the first time in awhile we get to see Cath and Warrick together...They exude sexual electricity...Can't wait to see if there'll be more development between these two...

Here's the other thing I got a huge kick out of...I love movies...So, I caught the horror movie stuff right away, but I'm gonna guess not many viewers caught the nod to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" from 1945 (remade as "Ten Little Indians" in 1965)...One of my personal favourite movies of all time...It's simple plot device and twist has been ripped off for ages, including in I Know What You Did Last Summer and, most recently, in Saw...Rent it if you enjoy a good thrill...

Griss' call on Lon Chaney Sr. was spot on...What a hoot!...I wish I could explain exactly why, but that's a story for another blog...Suffice it to say, I have a personal and financial appreciation for movies that goes a bit beyond merely being a lifelong fan...(Hi Mike, Hi Anthony, Hi Zoe, Hi Rhea!)...LOL

Oooh...And can we say longshots of sexybowlegged Griss walking towards the camera are very yummy?...Yessir...

Good to see David more on his game...I guess his wedding went off without a hitch so now he's calmer...

Greglet looks much better...But I have a feeling his troubles aren't over yet...

Brass is a riot recapping the partying folks who witness the first murder...Love his straightfaced delivery...He's a real "East Coast" kinda guy...I know a few like him...LOL

Archie and Sara looking over the karoake tape evidence in the AV lab...I laughed at the look on both thier faces as a very nice moment of "WTF?" passes between them...

Next we get to Sophia and Sara processing the next murder together...nothing earth shattering...Just two gals doing the job...

Speaking of Sara, not much goes on beyond one scene of her and Griss standing next to each other as the team goes over evidence...They don't even exchange looks...

I'm beginning to wonder how invested in GSR TPTB really are...Not that I'm complaining, but it's odd that TPTB bothered to "support" it, but the season has been pretty GSR light so far...Hmmm...Is there an iceberg on the horizon?...Time will tell...

I gotta add, Nicky is letting his hair grow out...It looks better...

Doc Robbins, you tough old bird, you!...If I'm ever in a fight, I want you swingin' the Ninja Cane of Death on my side...Phew...Rock on, Doc...

Hodges cute while helping Greg...Even cuter in his eternal quest to impress Griss...Keep trying, Hodges!...

I really enjoyed this step back in time...YMMV...

Oh...Before I forget...If you haven't checked out Ugly Betty, try it...It's based on a very long running novella called Betty la Fea...Think a bit of Devil Wears Prada, but much more character development and hilariously funny...Salma Hayek produces the show and does cameos in the novella Dad watches in the background on TV, but in later episodes she joins the main cast...America Ferrara (Real Women Have Curves and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) is wonderful starring as Betty...It gives one pause to think that she's supposedly the "ugly one" in this shark tank of more traditional vacuous beauty, but eventually it's clear who is truly ugly and whether it's inside or outside...

Since I'm in a retro mood, I think I'll search around and see if I can find a few Medical Center episodes...Gotta love bowlegged cutie Chad Everett as Dr. Joe Gannon...Scrubs and clogs...Mmm...

Interesting trivia: Joe's boss, Dr. Paul Lochner, is Tyne Daly & Tim Daly's Dad, James Daly...Yeah, I'm ooold...

Nostalgically yours,
ABS;)

*Apparently my overuse of parentheses, that's what they're called, bothers some folks...I'll still use em...Ignore them or don't...

Free Turkey Day...Gobble Gobble...

I just got back from Thanksgiving shopping...

What was I thinking going this late???...Well, I did get a few things the other day, but the majority of stuff just now...

I'm was a lil disappointed at first, though...

Our grocery store gives out a free turkey if you buy $125 worth of stuff...I bought just about $500 worth ($497), but the manager said in order to get free turkeys for each $125 they would've had to ring up $125, then $125, then $125, then $125...Something about needing seperate receipts...It's a new policy they weren't doing until this year...Argh...

Now, I already have a HUGE turkey for my family...That's not what disappointed me...

I always buy a crapload of groceries around this time of year to re-fill the big standing freezer and qualify for several free turkeys...Then we give them away...You know, like to families down on thier luck or whatever...It makes me feel good and my kids look forward to doing it, too...

Sooo, back into the store we went to spend another $125 on just turkeys (I got looked at real funny for just buying a bunch of turkeys with nothing else)...And I qualified for the free turkey!...So, for $132 total, I got 6 turkeys and 1 (7 total) FREE!!!...

Yay!...Now, I'm happy...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Things people do...Part Deaux...

The writer of the fic that I recc'd* requested in PM that I not recc her fics anymore because she felt I was "mocking" her because I own this site...I PM'd back that I would respect her feelings on that...

This is the same fic that I was reading that had me publicly apologize for my humourous recc possibly hurting her feelings...The same fic recc that caused everyone to pounce on the fact that I own this site and am open about not liking Sara...Yeah, that fic, that writer, that entire fiasco...

That same fic was updated today...I figure I can still read, no?...No one can yank out my eyeballs just cuz I don't like Sara, right?...

OK...So, I read...I'm all prepared for more of this enjoyable fic...Then I realize that in all the ruckus a few days ago, I missed the last part of the last update...So I go back...I'm thinking this is pretty great cuz I'll be reading a lil extra, right?...

Well, lo and f*@king behold...The part of the fic that I had missed by rushing to recc it and give the writer's ego what I thought was a nice stroke?...The part of the fic I was looking forward to finishing this morning?...

A 31 YEAR OLD GRISSOM HAS BEEN F*@CKING A 17 YEAR OLD SARA...

Are you f*@king kidding me???...

And the writer doesn't want me to recc her fics cuz it makes her feel mocked???...But writing STATUTORY RAPE makes her what?...Feel all warm and fuzzy?...Are you joking???...

In a fandom where I keep getting reminded that "Oh, Sara fans are sensitive because 'antis' always say Sara has Daddy issues and that GSR is incest and stuff, we 'protect' her cuz we love her so much", the writer can actually write STATUTORY RAPE and that sh*t (regardless of how well it was written and regardless that up until then I had been enjoying it) is gonna not get challenged cuz she's a GSR and "loves Sara"...

HTF can that f*@king sh*t be okay with ANYONE, no matter which ship you sail???...I feel as if I've been taking crazy pills!...

I'm all for artistic freedom, but W T F???...

And this writer is good...If it hadn't been for the demure/holier-than-thou posturing over the past few days, I probably would've just read, got to Sara being underage and simply stopped reading...And since the writer's good, mebbe read a future fic...And not take it personally...

But after the last lil "you can't feel/like/not like what you feel/like/not like cuz it's mocking GSR/Sara and stop liking my work cuz I like Sara and you don't so I don't want anyone to know you like my stuff cuz that might mean they think I like you and they might turn on me, too" bullsh*t, whoa...

Spell it with me (As sung to the Mickey Mouse Club theme):

H - Y - P...p ya real soon...O - C - R...r? Because it's the first letter in "rape"...I - T - E...

HYPOF*CKINCRITE...(stop singing)

Hypocrite: A person who pretends to have moral principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs...

Wouldn't condoning STATUTORY RAPE be a teensy lil tiny bit of MISOGYNY?

You know, MISOGYNY, what you said I displayed for not liking Sara?...

MISOGYNY: The hatred of women.

Ring a bell?...

Excuse me if I lump STATUTORY RAPE in with MISOGYNY...Silly me...

So, no...You needn't worry that I'll soil your reputation by reccing your fic publicly...

That, to my mind, would be condoning the illegal act that you've so lovingly woven into your work...Why you felt that was necessary is none of my business and you are certainly free to write in any way you see fit...I just don't have to read it if it offends me...

And lemme tellya, YOU might thinks it's cute and romantic and can be explained away by writing it into a plotline that will somehow justify it all, but that sh*t won't wash to your fellow GSRs/Sara fans whom I know for a fact have sexual abuse issues...And even if they could somehow accept it, like some of the "Oooh, I saw that coming, please don't break them up!" idiocy that was recced on your LiveJournal...

STATUTORY RAPE offends the f*@k out of me...YMocMV**...Nuff said...

Colour me disgusted as hell,
ABS;)
* To "recc" a fic is the short term for reccommend...it's the same as giving a positive review...
**Your mileage, of course, may vary...

The things people do...

People are really really something...And I get called a liar and folks act betrayed because I post under several screen names?...Phew...

I just got a series of messages from several members of some of the same websites I've visited in CSI fandom...You will not believe this, but I told them I had to blog about it and they figure they're protected enough that it won't impact on them...They're pretty proud of what they've done, actually...

Believe it or not...Your choice...But don't say I didn't tell you about what's been going on and will likely continue to go on...Right under your noses...

Here goes...

OK, so I get the first message...It's from someone I don't know, being "supportive" about the recent stuff going on here and "over there"...Nice...We chat a bit and this person says they have a few more friends who want to message me, too...So we do a conference style type thingamabobber...

Everything's very cordial and I guess they see I'm just a regular gal...They get more comfortable...At some point, the first person says they know "over there" cuz they've had problems way back in the early days when the site was young...

Each one tells a similar story...Fighting with folks...(They name people I recognize from "over there")...General insanity on all parts...Apparently, they all meet and being still pissed, they plot...And as the site grows, they lurk...And not just "over there", although that's where the idea started...

(I gotta stop here and add...By this time, I'm getting creeped out and I told them so...But I was curious about the plot, too...I mean, wtf plots like this over a message board fight???...They thought it was cute that I was creeped out...WTF?)

Anyway, over time they rejoin casually and lurk...What about your old IP addresses, I ask?...One of em is in IT and did whatever to take care of that...They went in "clean"...

Lurk a bit...Post a bit...Nothing controversial...Make friends...Build up trust...Don't be too well known, but build a lil bit of a reputation...All the while, though, they're slowly building something else, too...

Are you ready?...A BUYER'S list...

Now, I'm not gonna go into what all they've sold, but I will say that they run several nicknames EACH on each board...The registrations were carefully staggered so as not to cause suspicion...And the sales are so subtle, it's ridiculous...But they are each making a pretty penny...

No...You don't understand...A PRETTY penny...And they never SPAM the site so nobody has ever caught on...And my guess is, no one ever will..."Over there" has over 11,000 registered members alone...

They only sell GSR related stuff...Specifically Sara related stuff...Cuz they claimed "that was the biggest audience to sell to, they snatch up EVERYTHING they can get thier hands on about GSR or Sara"...

Now, here's the absolute showstopper that left my jaw wagging in the breeze...Talk about some seriously malicious sh*t...

WARNING: If you are a GSR or Sara fan lurking reading this, you might want to sit down...I'm not joking around...

Every one of them HATES GSRs and Sara with a PASSION that made chills go up even my spine...Twisted, huh?...

I asked why they chose to reveal this to me...They said since I own this site, they "figured I'd appreciate the irony and the FU to the GSR community, especially those stupid-assed Sara-loving freaks" that they've been giving and plan on continuing to give...

I was stunned...They laughed and left me sitting in that chat box by myself...It took awhile before I could digest it all, then a longer while to even begin to think of what to do with the information, if anything...

I mean, what is my responsibility here?...They aren't breaking the law by selling to people they despise, are they?...I don't think you have to like people you sell things to...Do you?...

But if you're selling things to people you despise by pretending you are one of them and like them, which is why they trust you and buy from you...then make fun of them amoung yourselves...THAT seems pretty damned wrong to me...Or am I crazy for feeling that way?...

Geeeeez...

But here's my dilemma...WTF in the GSR/Sara fan community is going to believe this crap?...Especially coming from what they've called thier "enemy"?...Namely, me?...

Do I keep it to myself?...Or put it out there honestly and hope it helps somehow?...

After the crap I've been through, do I have a responsibility to the GSR/Sara community?...Or should I just giggle privately at this really creepy scenario and think they're getting thier just desserts?...

I'll alleviate your suspense...

I have a conscience...I like to live my life with a certain level of integrity...I chose not to be spiteful and keep this to myself...So, I wrote it here...Although, truthfully, I don't see how the heck it would be possible to stop them...It's gone on a coupla years at least...And they're 'trusted"...Two of them even went somewhere on a cruise with "fellow fans", too...They didn't say where, I didn't ask...

For all I know it could've simply being bragging/lying to me for shock value or attention...Or mebbe I was being tested...I dunno...Doesn't matter to me why...

Just don't say I kept it quiet out of spite if it turns out it's true,
ABS;/

P.S. This has really ruined what was a good mood for me...I was going to write more on the Sara list, but I don't feel up to it right now...Mebbe later...I'll see...

Phew...Finally...The Sara list...and fics...

Peace and quiet...

On the drive this morning, I was remembering a few PMs I got yesterday...They got me thinking...(Yeah, I know...Dangerous...LOL)...

Now, I'm not talking about the psycho ones (surprisingly few, actually...Thankfully, psychos stayed away from this one...)....No, I'm talking about the gracious, intelligent CSI fans who just so happen to also like Sara...I'm not talking about giddy idiots...I'm not talking about the rabid Sara fans...

I'm talking about people who wrote me and seem strong and confident and mature, yet they like Sara...Now, common sense tells me that if these several people I have respect and admiration for like this character, mebbe there might be something I'm missing...Or at least I'd be interested in figuring out what it is about her that allows them to see her differently than I do...

Many of you are wondering why I even care...I find it interesting to understand others' feelings, motivations, interests...I dunno why...If you simply like what you like and don't like what you don't like and are satisfied without knowing about others, great...This will probably make no sense to you at all...Feel free to stop reading...My feelings won't be hurt at all...

But, if it fascinates you to understand why people are different, feel free to keep reading...I'm hoping it'll be interesting...

If you're a rabid Sara fan, chances are you either aren't reading this or, if you are, this part is likely to piss you off...You have been given fair warning...

OK, Miss Sara Sidle...Let's see if we can dissect a bit of why the CSI fans that do like her...well...do...LOL

I'm going to list various reasons I've seen and in parentheses will be my take on that reason...

1. She's smart. (Yup. She went to Harvard. I'm guessing you have to be smart for that. + )

2. She's pretty. (Jorja Fox is a former model. You simply can't be an ugmo and be a model. But is Sara pretty? I think they deliberately make JF look frumpy to play Sara. - )

3. She's sexy. (JF may be sexy, but is Sara sexy? Fumpy and sexy? Hmmm...OK, let's say that every being is sexy to someone somewhere, regardless of another's personal preference. + )

4. She's in love. (I'll grant you that's what the writer's have written. + )

5. She's had a lousy backstory/has been through a lot. (So has Cath. - )

6. She's socially awkward. (So is Griss. - )

7. She's a vegetarian. (Hmmm...I'll give in on this, but if she weren't, I'd give in, too. + )

8. She likes animals. (Yeah, I saw her bury the gorilla. + )

9. She's a brilliant CSI. (Brilliant? She does her job adequately, but brilliant? + )

10. She's spunky. (Ummm... - )

11. She has long shapely legs. (YUP. + )

Let's see what the score is so far...7 Positives and 4 Negatives...Hmmm...

Now here are few of my own for the list...

11. She smirks. (JF has a cute lil smirk, as Sara it's annoying to me. Dunno why. - )

12. She's judgemental. (How many times has she judged? Lots. - )

13. She walks like a lumberjack. (JF was a model. As Sara, she sorta lumbers. - )

14. She has an uneven backstory. (Not JF's fault. TPTB? Pick a plotline and fullfill it, please. - )

15. She has limited boundaries. (No means no, no? - )

16. She has limp hair. (Looks too severe for her face. - )

17. She wears uncomplimentary makeup. (Seriously. - )

18. She has a diastema. (So do I. Mine is smaller, but still. + )

19. She has nice hands. (Very delicate. + )

20. She has no friends or social life. (Hmmm...Sad, but true. - )

21. She is long and lithe. (It means she is thin. Nice figure. + )

We're at 8 Negatives and 3 Positives for my list...

Now, is the list inaccurate?...I attempted to be accurate, but was it?...

Is it unfair?...I attempted to be fair, but was I?...

If the list is accurate and fair...Am I still missing some essential ingredient to liking Sara?...I think so...Mebbe something I haven't figured out yet...I'll keep trying...

In the meantime, several writers that I enjoy asked me how I could read thier GSR fics and say I like the fics, but not Sara...I thought about that and I said I think it's because the Sara they write isn't the Sara that I see on the show...

I'm not sure if explaining will make sense, but I think that the writers I enjoy like Sara...OK, so they write her in a fic, but the stuff that makes me not like her is NOT in the stuff they write, so I can relax and enjoy...

Now, the writers just write from thier heart and they may THINK they write her like Sara from the show...I'm not sure they even notice this difference in her, but trust me, it's different in a very good way for me...Make sense?...Mebbe not, but it makes it possible for me to enjoy the fics I like...

I'll revisit this list later...Gotta run a few errands...

Just a thought,
ABS;)

P. S. BTW, it escapes me who might have mentioned it to me, but...Isn't it generally considered bad 'Netiquette to copy/paste/post the contents of one website onto another's website/forum without first obtaining permission?...I'm pretty sure I heard that somewhere...I could be wrong...Surely, it's not possible that anyone would say it was rude, then do that very same thing...At any rate, copy/paste/post (and don't forget to mock) away with my full consent...I'll feel a bit flattered, albeit in a twisted way, that you felt the need to bother...LOL

SpoilerGate...WTF???...

I've been meaning to post this ever since reading about the spoiler fiasco a bit ago...

My opinion on this issue and $2.50 might get you a tall latte at Starbucks...with a coupon...and an employee discount...No biscotti, though...LOL

For those who don't know, spoilers are the lil tidbits leaked about a TV show or movie before it airs...Sometimes spoilers get leaked deliberately as part of marketing, sometimes they don't...Prince was notorious for recording music that would never be released commercially and "leaking" it underground to fans...

Now, if you are in a position to get spoilers, chances are that you either work at the production studio/TV station and have access to what is known in the industry as "sides" (small portions of the updated script, usually left out daily for cast/crew) or you know someone with that access...

Don't get me wrong, I love being spoiled...I read the last page of books before I read them and the last chapters of completed fics, too....I beg my friends to tell me what happens in a movie before I see it...It never diminishes my enjoyment to be spoiled...Ever...

Here's the sticky wicket as I see it, though...Having access to spoilers implies that a certain amount of loyalty and trust is expected on the part of those with access...No?...

Does providing spoilers betray that trust?...Is it like removing a paperclip from work?...Trivial?...Or is it downright "stealing"?...I'll leave that to you readers to decide...

Having clearly gone to a place known for spoilers, to enjoy them for yourself, does a visitor have the right to transport the spoilers elsewhere?...In essence, "stealing"?...Again, I'll let you readers decide...

Is there a "moral high ground" regarding revealing spoilers?...And if revealing spoilers is "stealing", is "stealing" what's been stolen also "stealing"?...You make the call...

Having said all that, what purpose is served by ruining spoilers being obtained for everyone?...Was it done unintentionally?...Or was it done spitefully?...

Truly, I don't know...But I do know that I enjoy spoilers and I see no reason why it became necessary to ruin that fun for everyone, including myself...

I hope whomever is responsible realizes they also ruined it for themselves...How silly...

Bad karma and definitely not a mitzvah...

Laterz,
ABS;)

Aye Yi Yi...

Well...No matter...

I own this site...I don't like Sara...To hear some tell it, I'm out clubbing baby seals under a huge banner that's written in puppy/kitten blood that spells out "I HATE SARA!!!...

Sheesh...

Is it any wonder CSI fandom is so divided?...

I get accused of being a liar because I didn't register for a well known GSR site as "ABS"...Nevermind that at the time I registered, I didn't own the domain, AnybodyButSara.com...

In lieu of any really witty criticism, my deliberate overuse of both parentheses and ellipses make for ripsnorting giggles...Oh, yeah...And I supposedly think I'm "smarter/better than people who like GSR"...

My blog posts are re-posted to show how "mean" I supposedly am, but not finding post after post of "Sara SUX", what is decided is anyone's guess...

Frankly, it's all too silly...

Many want to know why I read GSR fics...Sorta reminds me of a lesbian who, when asked by a man "How can you like having sex with women???"...She replied "Don't YOU like having sex with women?"...

I read LOTS of things...I enjoy LOTS of writers...If YOU enjoy it, why would you assume others wouldn't?...

I get accused of updating this site...YUP, I update...And?...

You know, I'm beginning to think that the real issue isn't what site I own, or what fics I read or what colour underwear I wear...The real issue is, that the more annoyed I get at rabid Sara fans, the less I like Sara...And the less I like Sara, they more annoyed folks get...

Now, you can certainly pretend that I haven't be clear, but I have...NUMEROUS TIMES...(Now I know how Griss felt...Numerous times...)

Somebody please tell me why on Earth my not liking a fictional character has such created a chasm in the Universe of all encompassing proportions?...If YOU like her, GREAT...ENJOY...My not liking Sara shouldn't affect YOUR enjoyment...That's so silly...

You like Sara and don't want to debate about it with anyone?...FINE...

You like Sara and aren't interested in any other opinion of her character?...FINE...

You like Sara and aren't interested in connecting on any other subjects?...FINE...

But please, don't confuse liking a fictional character with feeding the poor or curing Cancer...In the grander scheme of things, it's merely a TV show...There are wars being fought all over the world, children who are abused or go to bed hungry, people without clean water or decent housing...THEY may or may not like Sara either...So?...

Do you find yourself fighting just as hard and baring your teeth and brandishing your nails over those issues?...Or just over a fictional character on TV?...

Let's not pretend that liking Sara is a litmus test for a human being's worth or lack thereof...In 100 years, no one will give a flying f*@k about CSI or Sara (although the bowleggedsexiness will live on forever, but I digress)...No hungry bellies will be filled, no diseases cured, no wars ceased in the name of Sara...NONE...

If that's not "Canon", it should be...

ABS;)

IBS/ABS, quel dommage...Quel scandal...

Ya know, sometimes it doesn't pay to be nice...Or mebbe it does...

I read...I read so much and so often that the authors of actual books that I love don't write fast enough...I grab the latest of those authors works and promise myself that this time I'll read slower...This time I'll savour...This time I'll make the book last...But it never happens quite that way and I end up devouring whatever deeliciousness I find myself immersed in...

Way back in another fandom, I discovered the world of fan fiction...I was amazed at the smorgasbord of tasty treats all organized like petit fors...By writer, fandom, even by 'ship'...I wasn't into a ship then, but I enjoyed some of the most incredible work by "amatuer" writers...Some of those works rivalled "professionals"...I was in Heaven...For the first time, I could read to my heart's content and when I was done with one fic, I could go back into what seemed to be an endless treasure trove for more...Heck, I even wrote a couple myself...

Eventually, as my personal life required more attention and that fandom shifted a bit, I had less time to spend reading...

Roll the clock forward a bit...CSI became a new obsession for me and I went looking for sites with information...I had watched the show awhile, but was hungry for the tidbits fans become interested in...I found a coupla sites with information, but was put off by the disturbing "character bashing"...Sure, I don't like the character of Sara, but my life doesn't revolve solely around that...I do have other interests...Sheesh...

And before anyone reading this even thinks of pulling a "Oh, we only come here because we HATE Sara, we thought you did, too...But if you're reading GSR fics...Well...We feel betrayed..." get over it, seriously...I'm many things, but one-dimensional isn't on that list...

At any rate, I found some amazing fics by a writing duo* who paired a couple I had never considered...The stories were divinely delicious...I contacted both writers to "fan girl" appreciatively and they were both very gracious and kind to me...As I ran out of the stories that I had enjoyed so much from these two writers, I simply went down the list for more to read...

UGH...GSR fics were the only thing left...Do I skip those?...I did...for about a half a second...Then I decided to see what, if anything, these two writers could bring to a pairing I wasn't crazy about...See, I had already gone on adventures I hadn't intended with these two writers...They hadn't disappointed me yet...I trusted they would take me somewhere I'd be glad I had gone...

And I was right...They did...

Sure, every now and then I'd smile and roll my eyes as I waited for what i just knew was going to be a huge "Sara-fest", but I was pleasantly surprised...Those moments weren't what many writers had made seem forced and anoying...When the GSR moments came, I digested them...And they went down smoothly...like a good armangnac...Mmmm...

Here's what those writers, and others I've added to my personal "trusted list"**, know...

1. Sara doesn't have to be made to look good by bashing another female character...Written well by a good writer, the reader will see her worth...All GSR stories don't have to include "Good/Perfect Sara vs Every Other EVIL Female"...It's boring...

2. Wellcrafted characters stand out...Nuff said...

3. Well thought out plots are worth thier weight in gold...Not everyone wants "bunnies & flowers", not everyone wants "endless angst", but everyone will enjoy a good plot on some level...

4. Love your characters...All of the authors on my personal "trusted list" write in a way that exude love and respect for the characters they write about...It's a testament to thier writing skills...

5. Take your readers on a journey...I've been on many an unplanned journey with these writers...I haven't regretted one...

Now, along the way, I have also read many ghastly fics by writers who I think fall into 2 camps...The first camp is inexperience...Writing is a skill...Practice will help them get better if they apply proven techniques, I think...The second camp is writers who will never get better...Thier writing is awful and will likely remain awful...But I don't think awful writers should be banished from writing...Not everyone can write well...However, if they have readers who enjoy what they write, what difference does it make?...They have an audience who appreciates them, that's what I find important...

I believe that ALL writers write to feed a need to express themselves...That is as important a need as any...Writing well to feed that desire is lovely, but writing badly but still having the desire is bravery...I don't bash writers, especially awful writers...Why?...Because a writer's fragile ego might not be strong enough to withstand even the most well placed/well meaning/gentle blow...I like writers and I wouldn't ever want to crush that creative spirit, no matter the circumstance or viewpoint...The few times I've offered constructive criticism have been privately so as never to embarrass the writer publicly...

But praise?...Praise I like to lavish publicly it's warranted...It speaks more eloquently to a writer's ego...Everyone deserves to be publicly stroked whenever possible...No?...

Now, there is a reason I've chosen to be candid about all this here and now...(And those of you who know that I ramble will also trust that I'll tie it all up into a neat bow by the end...LOL)

I belong to a great many forums under a great many screen names...I have since 1995...It's not a secret...Some people know me under one screen name, some people know me under several...I'm not sure anyone knows me under all of them...It's never been much of an issue, really...Up until now...

OK...Sooo, over the weekend, I was waiting for some files to download and was bored (as usual) so I checked a rather large GSR site*** that I happen to like to see who had published any new fics...I immediately saw that a writer I hadn't thought I'd read before had a new work posted...I was wary, but skipped off to read it...It turned out to be a very engaging AU fic...It also turned out that I had read this writer, but she had published under a different screen name so I didn't realize it was her...

Sooo, I posted a positive reccommendation on the appropriate thread...At least, that's what I thought I had done...My files were done downloading and I went off to work on one of my projects...

A bit later I got a PM from someone who told me that my recc was insulting to the writer...I had tried to be funny and apparently writing that I had read the fic out of "desperation" was misinterpretted...I immediately edited the recc to clarify that it was supposed to be funny, PM'd the writer (who was very kind and took it in the way I had written it, as a teasing recc) and I replied to the original PM with an apology...Then I posted in another thread about my concern about hurting any feelings and asking if I had indeed handled the situation well...A few people commented, but mostly the feeling was "You could've been misunderstood, but your apology should be enough...Don't worry"...I figure it's over...Right?...

Nuh Uh...

I go this morning to check out the new posts and there's a PM from the writer requesting that I not recc her fics anymore because I own AnybodyButSara.com and my reccs couldn't be "sincere" and that she felt that my reccing her fics was somehow making fun of her...HUH???...

Then, I find that during the night apparently there has been a discussion about this and someone "outted" me as the owner of this site and they are wondering why I would go "over there"***...

They act as if I've betrayed them personally somehow...Like CSI fandom is some secret underground organization with funny handshakes and all...Someone posted that I "pretended" to be "one of them"...

I never once denied my dislike for Sara...As a matter of fact, it got me into trouble "over there" for being so honest in the beginning...I'd get challenged with "I don't think you like Sara" and I was ALWAYS be honest enough to say "Nope, I sure don't"...So, having had me be that transparent, why feel betrayed?...

Here's the deal...For all of you who STILL don't get it, or for those who think I've held back of not been completely honest (although it's exactly what I've always replied, even in PMs)...

I love CSI...

I've been a William Petersen fan for ages and think he's a very versatile actor...And more than a lil adorable...

I adore GRISSOM...Period...

I don't like the version of Sara that has developed since episode 102...I think she had potential in episode 102 to be a suitable love interest for Griss, but that potential was wasted by developing a dull/boring/moody/whiny/judgemental/ basketcase of a character...

I resent that that awful incarnation of the fictional character of Sara was rewarded for being so awful by snagging the "prize catch", Griss...

I only tolerate Sara because TPTB have her still on the show...And I doubt I would miss her much if she were to leave...

I don't hate Jorja Fox, she's just playing a fictional character on a TV show...It's her JOB...

I did enjoy Jorja Fox on ER... I have never watched the West Wing so I never saw her in it...

I don't know how to be any more honest than that...Saying that you feel "betrayed" because I own this site and you love Sara and I don't like her seems a bit silly to me, but ok...

I've been accused of "bashing Sara" by simply owning this site although if the contents are read, I don't go out of my way to make fun of her or call her names...(No, I don't consider referring to her as a "bitch" every so often to be bashing her...I've seen GSRs call her that, too...and worse...)...

One moderator**** (who was one of the two I mentioned a few posts ago) made a post something to the effect that as long as a member of the site respects the posting convention and adds value to discussions, the site doesn't function "in a vaccuum" and that's fair...I admire her courage in saying that, because frankly it appeared as if a lynch mob was assembling...And for what?...For a positive recc for a good fic?...Or merely because the recc came from the owner of THIS site?...

You know, many times in the past the selfish/judgemental/intolerant attitude of the more rabid GSRs has caused me to do things like start this very site...Oh, absolutely...I started this site because of the wank specifically "over there"...YUP...Sure did...

But I'm not going to react this time...It's pointless...So, I will continue to recap and write as I see fit here...And as long as I'm allowed to, I will continue to go read and enjoy "over there" and add value as I can in areas that don't conflict with my promise not to post in any way shape or form about Sara "over there"...I suppose that's really all I can do...

That same moderator asked that they behave in a mature fashion and simply enjoy all the neat things they have "over there"...I agree...That's why I go there...I like the site...And?...

Ya know, CSI won't always be on TV...And years from now, no one will care who Griss ended up with...But we'll all still be humans, living life, writing and reading and hopefully, a bit more tolerant of the views/tastes/preferences of others...

Or mebbe not...

Try to have a good week and do something nice for/to someone else, whether you like Sara or not and whether they like Sara or not...

I remain,
IBS/GT*****/ABS;)

*I've deliberately left these writers unamed to keep them from being used as pawns in all of this...
**I'm not disclosing the names of my treasured "trusted list" of writers for the same reason...
***I'm not naming the "big GSR site" because it's unecessary...
****I'm not naming this moderator because it would be an act of hostility that I don't feel...
*****Ohhhh...Didn't know about that one, huh?...LOL

Happen-misanthropy, et all...

Well, Blogger has upgraded to a new platform and I've been too busy to fiddle with WordPress, sooo...Here we are...

I did the switchover and noticed several comments requiring moderation...Most were lovely...The rest were the same rabid GSR claptrap wank found all over the Internet these days and were summarily (and gleefully) deleted by moi...Oh, well...No loss there...

On to this week's recap...

Not a bad episode...A bit circuitous, but not bad...The twin sisters seperated at birth, the rather sad birth mother, the lonely half sister they'd never know, Doc Robbins' twin revelation...Twins hold a soft spot for me as there are several sets in my personal life so I found the parallels interesting...I thought the husband was the killer, though and the journalist sort of came from left field...

Nick singing to Mandy...Corny, but adorable...

Griss couldn't get any sexier unless TPTB dusted him in confectioner's sugar, swathed him in a gigantic buttermilk crepe and drizzled him with warm melted Limoges chocolate...Seriously...Um...Yeah...

I'm loving that we're seeing less and less of Sara...I realize it also sometimes means less of Griss, but I can always get my Griss fix by loading up Jackpot...Bearded Griss in jeans...Yummm...

Loved him reading Walden...And not allowing her insults to distract him from "Griss quiet time" despite Sara implying that he prefers his own company...It's TRUE...He DOES...Nicely done, Griss...

Glad she caught on and left instead of her usual pushy/intrusive behaviour...Clearly, "I won't wait up..." translates into a weak final bid for attention called "I'm so insecure that I wish I could insinuate myself between you and that book, but since you've made it resoundingly clear that I can't, I'll threaten you with holding out on whatever type of sex we might be having to hopefully get you to scurry after me..."

Sad...I'm sooo glad he didn't take the bait...She's waited in the past...Who is she kidding?...She'll always wait...He knows that deep down and so does she...Let's be honest...In a world of more complicated, more appropriate, more challenging women, Sara is a "sure thing"...She's going nowhere...She'll be there whenever he sees fit to pat her on the head or elsewhere...Until she gains a bit of self esteem, trust me, her "waiting" will never be a remote issue...It will always be a foregone conclusion...Always...That's "canon", too...

Geez, for 6 solid years she was barely a blip on his emotional radar...He's gotten older and I suppose he's decided he needs a bit of a release...She was nearby...He didn't have to be anything in particular for her to trip over herself to service him...Completely understandable...

But the past several episodes have implied a certain amount of smugness in Sara...She really thinks she's on an equal footing with Griss...LOL...A classic example of a submissive trying to Dominate from the bottom...How cute...Sorta like the child who truly thinks they're in control of the parents...until the parents get fed up and remind the child of the true nature of thier roles...

Time will tell...

Stay tuned,
ABS;)

Pre Mortem...and a teensy CSIMiami bit...

First, let me say I really liked this episode...

The parts with Greg in the courtroom were especially painful to watch...Killing someone to defend another's life is a difficult turn of events by any standards...There is no "win"...Everyone loses to a certain degree...

The juror guy bound and determined to be an a$$ made my skin crawl...The mother and son of the dead young man were moving and quite in denial about his activities...The judge was a supreme politician bent on re-election...And our Greglet held his own in the face of seemingly unsurmountable odds...

Brass, Doc Robbins, Sophia, Cath, Nick Warrick, Hodges and even Archie all made decent length appearances in this "All Hands On Deck" episode, but it's beginning to get a bit crowded on the CSI front these days...

Now, I'm pretty blind to GSR, and although Griss & Sara spent a fair amount of time onscreen, I wasn't overwhelmed...They did thier job, which is as it should be...And barely a smartassed remark from the "veggie gallery" this week...Awww...

The icky MCSK (Mini Crime Scene Killer) left yet another diorama, but it was "adjusted" to the actual murder...That creepy baby doll's face has me wondering if TPTB are foreshadowing a baby's death...More specifically, I keep thinking that since this will most likely be WP's last season in a fulltime capacity and since he has stated he'd like JF to leave with him when he goes, could TPTB be setting up a "let Sara find out she's preggers while Griss is away teaching on sabattical, have the MCSK go after her and she lose the baby" scenario?...It would certainly provide enough of a catalyst for Griss to leave the job he has loved for so long...(And WP & MrsP can go back to Chi-town and make lotsa lovely lil Petersen babies in the windy city)...

Personally, I like this "MCSK goes after Sara" scenario, and it seems inevitable...But I also don't like it...

I like it because it will be an incredible acting arc for WP...I don't like it because "baby scenarios" are common as a show jumps the shark, WP's leaving just might inadvertantly cause a shark jump...Plus, it makes Sara the queen of all things angsty...Enough with the angst for this damned victim of a character...Geez...What is she, Penelope PittStop?...It's CSI (or "The Grissom Show"), not "The Perils of Sara"...

I doubt TPTB would probably never ever do it, but I wish they'd simply kill Sara off...Preferably offscreen...Nothing "splashy", simply a murder tied to the MCSK and Griss' guilt at having been away when it happened causes him to spiral into grief and he leave to pull himself together...That would leave him a possibility to return to the show at a later date...Nothing personal in regards to JF...She's young and will get another job elsewhere...Besides, she's been wanting to spend time with her theatre group anyway...

I realize that there are many who would hate this and who love watching Sara!Angst because they put themselves in her place so they live vicariously through her, but seriously, enough...I lost my patience some time ago for Sara always managing to be "tied to the railroad tracks" and I have zero desire to see Griss rescue her yet again on any level...Being with him should be "rescue" enough...Considering everything he's already gone through and everything he stands to lose by being with her, she should be grateful...and walk 20 paces behind him...eyes down...palms up...Period...

And no, it's not the same for Cath!Drama...Why?...Cuz it's not...Get over it...

I do think this entire MCSK plotline has the potential to be quite good...I certainly hope it is...I'll be watching and hoping against all hope...

Is it just me or do TPTB at CSI/CBS have a penchant for annoying brunettes???...

I was watching a CSI:Miami rerun last night and egads, Kim Delaney (remember "Jenny" of "Greg & Jenny" from waaay back when on General Hospital?...Before she died and Demi Moore showed up as "Jackie"?...Yeah, I'm old as Heck...) plays a muy annoying charry...I had to squint really hard at the screen to see that it wasn't Sara vacationing in the city of sunshine...WTF???...

I remain,
ABS;)

The "jig" and it gettin' "up"...

Yeah...OK...For reasons I won't go into publicly, it has come to the attention of certain members of the Borg collective...Um, sorry...The "GSR"...That I own this blog...It's never been a secret, but that's not the point...

For the record, I post LOTS of places, in fandom and beyond, under a slew of screen names...I have forever and ever...And there isn't a whole lotta crossover...(Although Miss Cam recently "poked" me in greeting under another of my screen names at yet another forum...LOL...I use ellipses, ALOT, what can I say?)...

I mention this now because another place I post (and try like Hell not to stir sh*t, but it doesn't always work out that way), someone took exception to my opinion of Sara's less than intuitive behaviour towards Griss...At any rate, I saw my "warning level" had been raised so I approached a mod about it...Lotsa back & forth went on and we've come to what I think is a pretty decent compromise...I voluntarily offered not to post about Sara anywhere "over there", regardless of whether it's positive or negative for ANY reason whatsoever...I gave my word and I stand by my word...

However, I'd like to point out one of my biggest problems with GSR in general...And since I'm not putting that site on blast by mentioning them by name (although I hear there are those of your ilk that read here...why, I can't begin to fathom), I'll feel free to relax and state my opinion about what transpired...

This one mod seems like a nice enough gal...I don't know her, but I've dealt with her a coupla times and I think she tries to be fair...Here's the thing...I get called on "not liking Sara" and my assertion that Sara wasn't as nice as she could've been to Griss...OK, I can see how someone who does like her might not like that, but...Does my not liking her mean that what I SAY is necessarily untrue?...

I've seen GSRs posting that they simply love how Sara snarked at Griss in one way or another and how he "took it" and that's the sign, to them, that "they are truly equal" in this relationship...Um...I dunno whether to laugh or be appalled that there are people who see abusive behaviour "equal"...I suspect this isn't all GSRs who feel this way, in fact I know it's not all of them by the PMs I've gotten regarding this...But there is a certain faction that does harbour enourmous resentment towards Griss for not getting with Sara sooner...I've seen them post that he needs to "suffer" or be "punished" for "keeping Sara waiting"...Um...OK...That's pretty twisted...

You'd think, if Griss is so awful, they wouldn't want him touching Sara with his 10 foot pole...Erm...with A 10 foot pole...But no, he's so awful that they want no one else for Sara...This line of thinking has always reminded me of the unattractive guy who resents models, but would sell his eyeteeth to date one...Then, if he were ever so lucky as to get one, he'd verbally abuse her to 'get even"...Ah, true love at it's finest...

I also notice another trend in many GSRs' thinking...OK...They've never felt that Sara persued Griss overtly and beyond his running/hiding/avoiding her...Most GSRs say that he just "needed Sara to show HIM that he loved HER"...Um...STALKER talk...

OK...I know people who think this way...That thinking only works in fanfics...In the real world, when people run from you/avoid you/ignore you, it generally means they AREN'T in need of you proving to them that they really ARE in love with you...Seriously...It truly scares me, but yeah, I know some folks who think like that...(I keep trying to get them to read "He's Just Not That Into You")...

Well, now that "it's canon!!!", and Griss is going on a "stress-induced sabattical" to avoid his head exploding (and so WP can be in his play), these same gals want Sara to "pop up" where he's going for a romantic lil reunion...Uh Huh...

What is it about "I'm going AWAY because I'm STRESSED" that says to these gals "Pack your bags and join me!"???...He's LEAVING...Stop being so friggin' clingy and whiny!...If you're that uncertain that he won't come back, what should that tellya about the state of your "relationship"?...(Not to mention your state of mind in general)...Sheesh...

Repeat after me...

The saying goes as follows: "If you love something, let it go...If it comes back to you, it's yours...If it doesn't, it never was..."

NOT

"If you love something, let it go...If it comes back to you, it's yours...If it doesn't, HUNT IT DOWN..."

Learn it...Know it...Live it...

If a man (or woman, for that matter) needs to "go away to clear thier head" and they don't invite YOU, they obviously don't want YOU to go...What is so hard about that to understand?...Not everyone who walks away from a situation is looking over thier shoulder hoping they'll be persued and dragged back...Some folks really wanna go and come back when they're ready to deal with things again...It's not necessarily that they don't love you anymore, it's not necessarily that they won't come back...It might be, but not necessarily...It might just be that...Hmmm, let's see...IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU OR WHAT YOU WANT FOR A CHANGE...It might be about what THEY need...And what they need might not include YOU for half a damned second...I've never been in favour of "hop all over me 24/7 puppy tail-wagging" love...It's emotionally exhausting to have someone up your a$$ that far ALL the time...Fall back...Geez...

Anyway, where was I?...Oh, yeah...Just cuz I don't like Sara, does that mean that whatever I'm saying about her isn't true or valid?...

I gave the following example: If Sara's wearing a dress that doesn't fit her correctly and I say, "That dress doesn't fit her correctly...", am I "picking on Sara"?...Or simply stating a fact?...

I've noticed that the dress might be ugly as Hell, in a hideous colour and even GSRs are saying they HATE the very same dress AND the designer should be shot, but if I merely agree with what they're ALREADY saying, it's turned into "OMG, she HATES SARA!!!" or some even go as far as interpretting my comment as "DIE, GSR, DIE!!!"...Um...A bit unfair and borderline psycho if you ask me...

The way this mod explained it away was by saying that over the years, Sara has been criticized so much (I wonder why?) that the general concensus is that while GSRs might say Sara's a b*tch in a certain episode, ultimately they really like her so it's not "anti-Sara"...If I were to say the same thing, I'm saying it because I don't like her and nothing she does will ever please me...Um...Yeah...If the dress doesn't fit her, it doesn't fit her...Whatever...

In other words, the mother of an ugly baby can call it ugly, but no one else can or should?...OK, I get that...So, I agreed not to post ANYTHING about Sara "there"...

This mod and another pretty decent mod "there", to thier credit, didn't ban me from "there", but where my "warnings" were once zero, they were raised even higher than they had been when I originally approached them...I was told this was to flag me so other mods would be aware there had been an issue...I think it was a kneejerk reaction to feeling "betrayed" in some way by finding out I own this blog, but I left it up to them to be fair, so...[shrugs]...Understandable, I suppose...Although, up until then, they had removed my warnings entirely...Mebbe* one day I'll merit them being lowered to zero again...I don't see a banning or a high warning level as some sort of "I Hate Sara" badge of honour...I'm deeper than that...YMMV...

Anyway...now, if you should hear a rumour about this situation, you'll know you got the real deal straight from me...

ABS;)

P.S. Please do NOT do any "avenging of my honour" on my behalf...It isn't necessary and I prefer you take the higher road...I'm kewl about all this...You be kewl** about it, too...OK?...

Burning out...

OK...We get it...Griss is slipping into more and more migraines...He's stressed...Badly stressed...

Am I the only one watching who sees the only difference in his life that might be the direct cause of such stress...SARA...???

Hullo???...Earth to Grissom!...

Let's calmly examine the EVIDENCE, shall we?...

For the past 7 years, Griss has seen everything he's seen so far this season...Murder, mayhem, child abuse, gore, unspeakable acts against nature...But suddenly he's so affected?...Nuh Uh...I'm not buying it...

Yes, those things would have a cummulative psychological effect, but...We've seen no previous evidence that Griss was at a breaking point until now???...And why, pray tell?...

The only difference is the addition of "GSR" to Griss' world...Suddenly he's having migraines back to back and that, in and of itself, wouldn't be so shocking...But what does the other half of this supposedly "mature adult relationship" offer in nearly every exchange we've seen thus far?...SNARK...

It could be passed off in the previous few episodes as "Oh, Sara's so comfortable & secure with him now that she PLAYFULLY snarks at him...And after all, she deserves to give him crap since she hung on so long..."

Um...OK, let's go waaay out on the limb of appropriate relationship behaviour...Say that the aforementioned is true...Last night's episode had Griss obviously in some sort of distress...It was blatant...You'd have to have been blind not to see it...It was PALPABLE in his every movement, for cryin' out loud!...

And does his "soulmate", the woman he went out of his way to bring a veggieburger to (unasked, btw), the woman who "hung in there for 6 years cuz she loves him sooo much", the woman who "knows him better than anyone else and can Geek mindmeld with", the woman who "now feels she's his equal" notice that he's practically about to pass out from the pain of yet another migraine???...

Um...NOPE...

But she DOES notice that Griss is a bit snippy to Greg...And reprimands Griss in true ballbusting/selfabsorbed bitch fashion...Nice...

W
T
F
???

And she's so "in tune" with the guy she wanted sooo badly that she forfeited her dignity to "hang in there for" that he doesn't even share his obvious misery with her...He simply pops more medicine, finds a dark quiet office to lay down in and tries to make himself more comfortable...

ALONE...Poor Griss...

Griss explaining to the pedophile what someone who "truly loved" would do after seeing the boy in pain with a head trauma made me so sad that Griss didn't have that for himself... Well, at least Sara wasn't so selfish as to ply Griss with alcohol and take his shirt off, huh?...

Ah, the course of true love...

On a brighter note...When dealing with the pedophile du jour, Brass wins this week's Snark Award...
AnybodyButSara.com Snark Award

Fisher asks to use the bathroom and when he asks Brass if he should leave the door open, Brass says, "Nah, I'm too old for you..."

LOVED that!...

Double-crossed...

I'm finding myself in an odd place lately regarding CSI...

While I'm thoroughly enjoying CSI:Miami and David Caruso (make no mistake, Horatio is NO Grissom, but he is growing on me slowly), I'm finding something odd happening as I watch CSI:LV...This week's episode was interesting and the requisite GSR moments were minimal...But...I noticed that Season 7's Sara is more reminicent of the Sara from episode 102...

This is the gal Griss sent for to join him in Las Vegas...This is the gal I could've liked and rooted for all these years, not the waste of screen space TPTB forced down my throat from episode 103 until the Season 6 finale...

I feel even more cheated than ever...

I could've genuinely enjoyed this Sara...But it's too late now...Sorry PTB, my loyalty isn't so easily swayed...

So, make her nicer...Make her more mature and prettier and funnier and more confident...Make Griss "happy to be with her"...It won't matter to me anymore...I'll watch to see Griss, but I refuse to care one iota about this retro-Sara...

You taught me not to like her...Guess what?...It worked!...I don't like her...And more to the point, I won't like her...So there!...NeenerNeener...

I realized GSRs are mostly just happy to gloat that "It's Canon!" and are willing to keep any disappointment to themselves for fear that you, TPTB, might sink the canon ship, but they're faaar easier to please than I am it would seem...

Until next time,
ABS;)

Fannysnarkin'...and CSI:Miami...

This was a very emotional episode for me...I really didn't like seeing Greg beaten up, but it was deeper than that...Griss summed it up best in the end when he talks about people not being ashamed anymore by anything they do and feeling they can not only do awful things, but not feel bad about them afterwards...

I was very moved by Sara at Greg's side...I've always liked thier friendship...Jorja Fox was dead-on with her portrayal...

Nick & Warrick played it very restrained...With an underlying intensity...Nice...

K-Fed (Kevin Federline aka Mr. Britney Spears) was actually not as bad as I'd thought he might be...If he takes acting classes, he might become a decent actor...Admittedly, I bring a bit of wariness to the table...But, hey...Ice T, Ice Cube, Mark & Donny Wahlberg and others have crossed from music to acting with success...Although, I don't think K-Fed has all that much talent in the music department, but your mileage may vary...

In other news...More snark from the uber canon couple this week...Most notably when Sara is kicking the crap out of a dummy to determine exactly how the crime was committed...Griss suggests she "pick on someone your own size"...She asks if he's volunteering...

Um...Riiiiight...Adult & mature snark, for sure...

I realize TPTB intend these interractions to be playful banter, but they simply come accross as passive-aggressive snark to me...Oh, well...Lately, I just tune in to get my Griss fix, then head on over to CSI:Miami for any shipping...

Speaking of which, I've never been much of a David Caruso fan...Until now...

First off, never been into guys with red hair, they remind me of Donny Most (Ralph Malph from Happy Days)...A few exceptions are Elliot from Thirtysomething (Timothy Busfield), loved his personality...Danny "BadBaby" Bonaduce from The Partridge Family, loved his sarcasm...And Ron Howard, c'mon it's Opie Taylor!...He was the cutest lil boy then and he's an amazing director now...

Secondly, I'm still annoyed from Caruso's NYPD Blue exit way back when he thought he was a gonna be a movie star...(What a maroon...*)...

But I've found myself lured to Miami and enjoying his performances more and more...His demeanor has softened and I suppose with age comes wisdom enough not to screw up this opportunity with behaving like a diva...

I like his character (Horatio Caine), it's solid...I reeeaaally like the cadence and timber of his voice, too...Not a bad face, decent build...Love the serious hands-on-hips stance and the now legendary "Sunglasses of Justice"...I can ignore the red hair...

One thing I've noticed that does disturb me is something obviously part of the character...Horatio tends to bond with lil kids...His character is especially compassionate to them and I've noticed that, more often than not, the recipients of his attention are lil girls...I get that TPTB have designed him as a decent upstanding non-pervy guy who has a genuine non-pervy soft spot for lil girls...Lots of men, Brad Pitt for one, have described lil girls as having them "wrapped around thier lil fingers"...I get it...And there's nothing wrong with that...Lil girls are quite fetching...I should know...I was a lil girl many [cough] many years ago...

But...David Caruso has a very sexy rumbly voice...And in the scenes where I'm vibing off his voice, it squicks me to see him talking all confidential and whispery to a lil girl...Especially in this day and age of increasingly pervy Jon-Benet type perving...

It's not David Caruso's fault that I feel this way...I realize he's not being inappropriate to the kid AT ALL...It's certainly not his fault he has that type of voice...It's just something I noticed and that I wish TPTB would pay a bit of attention to in the future...

Oh, yeah...And I hope they let Horatio and Yelena get together...Pleeeeeaaaaase...(I'm still catching up in reruns so I dunno if they do or not...)

That's it for now,
ABS;)

Toe Tags...

An interesting episode...I usually like to do a second watch-thru before posting a recap, so watch for it in the next day or so...

In the meantime, I did notice a bit of forced "backstory" in my first viewing...We find out the canon couple did meet in San Fran and apparently Griss had a bit of a reputation (per Sara) of being a bit of a "boring" lecturer...I suppose boring would recognize boring, but I digress...

Awww...As always, the course of this true love leaves me breathlessly waiting for more...Sorta like the followup visit after a pap smear...

Built to Snark...

LOVED Marg in Built to Kill part 2...That was an incredible performance...She's awesome...as usual...

Warrick coming to her aid was very touching...I hope they write more of them this season...

Sam Braun...Excellent meanie...Too bad they killed him off, but mebbe it'll give an interesting storyline as we find out whodunnit...LOVE mastermind baddies...

And I'm diggin' this mini crime scene criminal...I don't have that sort of patience, but I have incredible respect for the type of skill & attention to detail it takes to be obviously insane and yet create works of art...Um...Wish I could do that...You know...Without the murders and stuff...LOL

And...I actually enjoyed the G/S moments......Wait, wait...Lemme explain...

Did I just imagine the snark flying all over???...I was LOVING the canon couple being so snarky to each other...Oh, yeah...Its "lurve"...

Don't remember it?...Let me recap for you:

Sara snarks at Griss at the mini crime scene that the killer makes Griss' "obessessive behaviour" look like "nothing"...And she said it with the usual snarky pussface...Awww...Soooo...Ahem..."mature adult relationship" and all...

Then, Griss gets a good one in when Sara comments on not having heard "Izzy's" (DannyB's) music...And Griss tells her it was "before her time"...LOVED that...

And one more snark for good measure...

Sara replies she'll "download it" and rolls her eyes PLUS the patented snarky pussface...(Ahhh...True love pales in comparison to the snark...Mebbe Griss made her sleep in the wet spot...or bought her another veggie burger with a side of snark...)

Anyway, we here at AnybodyButSara.com adore good snarky moments so we ordered up a batch of awards with a pussface emblazoned expressly for the purpose of showing recognition for these gems...

The newly minted AnybodyButSara.com Snark Award goes to... ECKLIE!!!...AnybodyButSara.com Snark Award

When he questions Griss about a case...And Sara pipes up with "I agree with Grissom"...

Ecklie: "Of COURSE you do..."

Ha!...Attaboy, Conrad!...Gee, the awards came out nice...(But they remind me of someone...Hmmm...I'll think of it...Gimme a minute...)

Respect the snark, people...

CSI:LV...RIP...?

My personal life is in a bit of upheaval lately and my sinuses have had me sorta schlumping around & crashing for medication induced hours on the couch, but I have seen the CSI:LV Season 7 premiere...I had intended to recap Part 1 on the Friday after the episode aired, but since I haven't felt so well, I think I'll wait until Part 2 airs this Thursday...

In the meantime, thanx to a very creative non-GSR supporter, "Kiss, Kiss, Bye, Bye"...

Funny...yet sad...

Well, that was interesting...

I'm gonna need to watch it again to give any coherent recap...

Laterz,

ABS;)

Just a coupla more hours...

Nearly time for the Season 7 opener...

Need something to do to pass the time?...Here's a new article by MSN called "The Women of CSI"...

Favourite comment: "Sara is the most divisive character on CSI. The people who worship her send hate mail instantly if our weekly chart contains even the slightest hint of bias. But others loathe Sara. They call her boring, say she’s a downer, and complain that she’s not beautiful enough to be on the show."...

See?...It's not just ABSers...

Don't forget to take the lil poll below the article...Back in a lil bit...

ABS;)

A dubious shout out, but a shout out nonetheless...

It seems AnybodyButsara.com has crossed paths with the GSR "fanwank" radar of Miss Cam...I know, I know...But I still got a huge kick out of it...LOL ...
In case you don't know who Miss Cam is, she invented/wrote the wonderful series of "Official Fanfiction University of..." & "The Protectors of the Plot Continuum", starting with "The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth" and my personal favourite, "The Official Fanfiction University of CSI"...She's deliciously wicked & brilliant...Read her stuff immediately...*

Hmmm...Mebbe leaving a comment wasn't such a great idea, in retrospect...Ooops...(Nah...she was quite gracious)...

Ah, well...So much fanwank, so lil time...

Now see...I knew he'd redeem himself...

The online TVGuide interview is here ...

Here's a lil quote:

Question: Are you surprised that a show that is not known for its romantic plots is now getting such a huge reaction for one scene at the end of one episode?

Fox: Very surprised. It's a huge compliment to the show. There's this sense that the folks who have been watching loyally for so long are still really invested in what's happening to the characters. I know there are positive and negative responses, but it's nice to be causing a strong, emotional response.

Petersen: We held back on any of that kind of stuff for six years for a reason. If you were going to do something like this a couple of years ago, where would we be now? Probably divorced."

Question: We know Mr. Petersen will be away for a couple of weeks this season [performing in a play in Providence, Rhode Island]. Do you think Sara will be true to Grissom while he's away?

Petersen: I would like to think she would. It's only for a couple of weeks. We're still working on how that's going to unfold.

Fox: I don't know if they even have a monogamous relationship. I'm not sure we've defined that. It's possible Sara would be true to him, but I wouldn't say it's definite.

Question: Knowing that eventually the administration will find out about the relationship, what consequences do you think will be in store for them career-wise? And if they were told to choose between their relationship and their jobs, what do you think they would do?

Petersen: I don't know that Grissom has ever been in love, or that he's in love now, so I wouldn't know how to answer that question.

Fox: Sara, by virtue of being a realist, is also very much a romantic. So I think if she really was in love with someone, and it came down to a choice between work and love, I think she'd go in the direction of love.

Question: If Grissom is supposed to be having a long-term affair with Sara, why was Lady Heather brought back for Season 6?

Petersen: People come in and out of your lives whether they know you're having an affair or not. The last time she was on the show, she was in trouble. Besides, she doesn't like Grissom anymore, anyway. I don't think Grissom understood what the Lady Heather thing was [about].

Question: Jorja, do you think Sara will ever meet Lady Heather? If so, how would Sara react to her and Grissom's past?

Fox: It would be a fun scene to get to do. Sara sat out a lot of the Lady Heather stuff.

Petersen: We had this scene where we talked about the guy with the corset damage. Sara asks Grissom where he got his information and he just said, "I have my sources." To those who caught that, they'll think he must have learned what he knew from Lady Heather. He doesn't talk to Sara about Lady Heather or his infatuation any more than any guy would discuss his infatuation with another woman while talking to his woman.

Fox: Grissom is good at keeping secrets.

Why yes...He certainly is...Hehehe...

CSI Season 7 starts tonight!...

This post was inspired by Lethes...We were comparing what we found sexy...(OK, I fessed up to David Caruso's voice being quite a bit of growly yummyness...(Although he still irks the heck out of me since his exodus from NYPD Blue...And David?...Taking off & putting on shades is NOT acting...Gah!)...

But I digress...

Anyway, since Grissombowleggedsexiness will grace TV screens all over tonight, here's my list of Top 10 in order of "turn on" value...

1. Voice (I can barely get through a Sean Connery or a Vin Diesel movie...and there's a certain note that both Pavarotti & Prince hit that slays me...)

2. Hands & Forearms (Um...When I was a kid I watched a LOT of Jerry Lewis movies...HUGE crush...Something about his knuckles, forearms & the nape of his neck...I dunno...WP's lil finger tics slay me, too...)

3. Smell (Erm...Toss out the cologne...Buy Ivory soap...A light sweat & we're good to go...That stuff is deadly yummy...)

4. Intellect (Besides the obvious benefits, it's also that "Librarian Syndrome" thing...Glasses extra points..."If I could just get his glasses off & molesticate him...Hmmm"...)

5. Eyes (Preferably brown...Blue will do in an emergency situation...Crinkles at the corners are extra points...)

6. Bowlegs (Especially walking or running...You really don't wanna know...)

7. Overbite & Dimples (Peter Berg, Denzel Washington...Dead sexy...Extra points for lip biting or tongue tics when nervous...)

8. Neck (I can't explain it, but it goes back to Jerry Lewis...It's sick...I know...)

9. Dark thick unruly curly hair (Grey at temples gets extra points...Actually, the greyer it gets, extra points...)

10. This last one I call "ness"...I can't define it really...There is a certain way certain men (and women) carry themselves through the Universe...A certain intensity?...Purpose?...Quirkiness?...

I used to think it came with age and I suppose some of it does, but not always...Not all of it...It's that undefined variable that makes certain men (and women) extremely attractive...And it's not looks...

Grissom has "Grissom-ness", Barbara Streisand has "Streisand-ness", but some folks don't have "ness"......Lady Heather has "ness", Sara doesn't...

There you have it...My eccentricities of attraction...(I'm going to need a cool washcloth & a lie down in a minute...)

ABS;)

P.S. Lethes, thanx for the idea!

CSI Season 7 starts tomorrow night!...

William Petersen (CSI:LV's "Grissom" for those of you living on another planet) gave an extended interview to the Chicago Tribune and although he was a bit coy, I can't help but feel as if he's trying to figure out himself if he'll be back for an 8th season...Even if it might be in a limited role...

It appears that the theatre is truly his first love and that hasn't changed with his success in movies and television...He really wants to get back to his roots as a theatre actor...

I like how he seems to be trying to weigh his desire to go back to theatre with what he sees as his responsibility to the cast & crew who depend on CSI for thier income...This is no selfish guy...He's truly torn...

Despite my dislike of GSR and his character's part in it, I can't help but respect how he seems to care for the rest of the cast & crew...Whatever he decides, I'm sure it'll be what he sincerely feels is the right thing to do...I mean, at the end of the day, it is only a job...

Now...On to the bowleggedsexiness tomorrow night!...

ABS;)

CSI Season 7 starts 3 nights from tonight!...

I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably not going to get an 8th season out of CSI:LV...Its long been speculated that, due to a desire to move back to his hometown of Chicago & persue his private life with lovely wife, Gina, William Petersen might not re-sign for Season 8...

I doubt the show can continue without "Grissom"...I mean, let's be honest...Yes, Marg & Gary & George & Eric & Paul are wonderful, but I doubt viewers will watch past Grissom's inevitable departure...

Part of me hopes he simply moves away to retire & teach, but in my heart I know that won't be enough...Part of me hopes they allow Grissom to pass away peacefully in the Rain Forest so GSR dies with him...I don't see any other solution really...

That makes me sad...

But you never know, sooo...

CSI Season 7 starts 4 nights from tonight!...

I'm sooo excited!!!...Just a few more days!!!...

BTW, for those interested in the new CSI cover interview in TV Guide with William Petersen...Actress Jorja Fox mentions "not being certain as to whether or not they're monogamous"...

Hmmm...That's a pretty interesting remark considering all the fuss made over GSR...Of course the remark was "spun" by diehard GSRs as being a "joke"...But the fact remains, darling "Sara" said it...They can either ignore it, spin it, or call her a liar...But its in the new TV Guide...

Denial, thy name is GSR...

And as soon as TV Guide updates the website, more questions will be

CSI Season 7 starts 6 nights from tonight!...

Caught the Season 6 finale repeat last night with a clueless unsuspecting casual CSI watcher friend...Needless to say he was like, "Whoa! Where did that come from???"...

An entire summer hasn't lessened the sting...I don't care...I don't want to hear it...I'm not happy about it...But, oh well...No one can take my imagination from me...So if I have to live in the alternate universe of ABSer fan fiction to get through this crisis, so be it...

Speaking of which, I've started compiling a list of all the great ABSer parodies and other ship fics...There are some excellent writers out there in the CSI fandom...

If you want to suggest a fic, just lemme know...

In the meantime, I'll be counting down to September 21st...Yay!...
